BRAZILAIN GRAFFITI ART – MULTIPLE LOCATIONS IN THE CITY OF FRANKFURT

5 September – 27 October 2013

Onesto a.k.a. Alex Hornest’s works reflect spontaneous situational encounters with pedestrians.
Onesto inscribes the events that unfold in the microcosm of the city into just such places, thereby attracting
the critical attention of viewers to political or social issues. His work in Frankfurt will appear on two buildings
on Neue Mainzer Straße 57 and 59 and one train.

ACCOMPANYING PROGRAM: At the opening of the Street-Art Brazil on Wednesday, 4
September 2013, beginning at 7 p.m., DJ Daniel Haaksmann will be playing a programme of hiphop music from
São Paulo and Baile Funk from Rio de Janeiro at a festival in the streets around
the graffiti paintings at the Schirn. The programme of related exhibition events also includes a
guided tour conducted by Julie Marcelino, a leading Brazilian scholar in the field of
communications, on Thursday, 17 September 2013 (meeting point in the rotunda); a travel report
with visual projections by Loomit, one of the pioneers of German graffiti, and Peter Michalski, art
historian and editor of Graffiti Magazine, on Tuesday, 24 September 2013; and a lecture by
Joachim Pissaro, art historian and Director of Hunter College in New York, on Thursday, 10
October at 7:00 p.m.

Nos anos 90 tive a felicidade de assistir há um dos vários vídeos da marca Girl Skateboards. Isso foi mais um dos fatores que mudaram a minha vida.
Esse é um dos melhores vídeos do gênero por ter os melhores atletas (na época), pelo alto nível das manobras, pelas trilhas sonoras que dão todo um clima ao filme e pelas impagáveis sacadas nas historinhas criadas e produzidas por nada mais, nada menos que o Mr. Spike Jonze.
Uma dessas histórias era a "The Parallel" onde um cara aparecia brincando com um pogo e dai em diante fazia o maior sucesso.
Para quem andava de skateboardo aquilo parecia ser a maior bobagem...
Ninguém botava uma fé que um dia isso poderia se tornar realidade e ainda mais um esporte radical.

Extreme Pogo or Xpogo is an action sport which involves riding and performing tricks on extreme pogo sticks, defined as such by their durability and potential for height.
Today’s Xpogo sticks have the potential for over 10 ft. of height (measured from the ground to the bottom of the tip).
Extreme pogo is a relatively new extreme sport and is currently emerging into popular culture as evidenced by the growing number of Xpogo athletes around the globe, growing sales from extreme pogo companies, the popularity of Xpogo athlete exhibition teams, positive feedback and continued interest in Xpogo content on sites such as YouTube, and the expanding scope of the annual World Championships of Xpogo, Pogopalooza.
One of the most recent indicators of Xpogo's growth is evidenced by a dedicated Xpogo commercial run by Nike during the 2012 London Olympics.[6] The vast majority of Xpogo athletes are male and between the ages of 10-25.

"ACHTERLAND", coreografía de Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker sobre música de György Ligeti y Eugéne Ysaye.

En lengua flamenca, la palabra achterland se puede entender como "tierra de sensaciones". Y así se llama el ballet concebido por la coreógrafa belga Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, sobre música de György Ligeti (ocho Estudios para piano ) y Eugéne Ysaye (tres Sonatas para violín solo ). Fue creado en 1990 y hasta su última ejecución, en 1994, se representó más de ochenta veces en distintos países.

La versión fílmica presentada aquí se rodó en Bruselas en 1993 y fue dirigida por la misma coreógrafa. Con un grupo de ocho bailarinas y bailarines, y los instrumentistas en escena, la autora expone su personal visión acerca de la sexualidad en el mundo moderno.

Dentro del cuerpo de baile predomina el elemento femenino y, por medio de un lenguaje en el que se alternan el fetichismo, la ambigüedad y una tensa oposición entre el temor y el desenfreno, De Keersmaeker coloca la angustia y el aislamiento como ejes de la relación entre varones y mujeres.

El film está realizado en blanco y negro. Además de realzar el despojado y refinado sentido estético de la coreógrafa, la fotografía está al servicio de crear una atmósfera onírica por la que transitan los fantasmas d el inconsciente de cada uno de los personajes.

Yessir Whatever is the third studio album by American rapper Madlib's alter ego Quasimoto. The album was released on June 18, 2013 by Stones Throw Records. The album features a compilation of songs released on rare & out-of-print vinyl and a few others that were previously unreleased.

KRINK: The Best Drip Ink in Graffiti
We caught up with Craig Costello, graffiti artist and creator of KRINK, the notorious brand responsible for drip style markers, mops, and fire extinguishers.

As a punk kid growing up in Queens, Craig would scavenge for supplies to paint the walls and buildings of New York. His desire to create larger pieces and invent unique graffiti tools led to the development of his internationally recognized ink and paint brand Krink Inc. Craig's signature style morphed out of his modifications and innovations with paint tools; using a fire extinguisher filled with paint and paint markers rather than spray paint, his style became an instant hit in many cities around the world.

Arquitetura em trânsito

Nas recentes obras de Kboco nos deparamos com uma imagem fatiada, retomada e reinventada. Mas que imagem é essa? Qual é o signo que ela revela? São cidades que apresentam uma arquitetura em trânsito, um dinamismo frenético da urbanidade. São obras que não possuem apenas a visualidade da rua mas possuem o cheiro, as incongruências e belezas do nosso entorno. Não há uma narrativa com começo, meio e fim, porque aliás não há fim. É uma obra em andamento. Nosso olhar se perde - pois não há um centro -, ele é multidirecionado e assim avistamos as inúmeras encruzilhadas, avenidas, ruas, prédios, casas, parques que compõem essas telas. Como uma planta baixa, suas pinturas sobrevoam uma cidade imaginária constituída por inúmeras referências, que variam desde fabulações a indícios de arabescos, torres, portais, pórticos e fachadas. Esta proximidade com a transformação da cidade e o contato com a arquitetura estão conectados desde o início da trajetória do artista. Suas pinturas murais realizadas em cidades com características e formações históricas e temporais tão distintas como Goiânia, Olinda e Porto Alegre auxiliaram na construção de um método muito próprio relacionado a sua percepção sobre o desenvolvimento da cidade, seus males e benefícios.

Ainda pensando no alargamento das influências ou diálogos que sua obra realiza, é interessante pensar não apenas nas relações (talvez já óbvias) que as obras de Jean-Michel Basquiat e Keith Haring tiveram não somente para a obra de Kboco mas para a transição entre uma produção artística realizada na rua e seu deslocamento para o cubo branco.

O trabalho especialmente produzido para a exposição cria uma associação com as suas telas e além disso, deslocando para a história da pintura, sua obra amplia o conceito de pintura de paisagem. Não seriam paisagens de ordem mimética, mas formas que ao mesmo tempo em que apontam a falência de uma representação figurativa, alcançam novos limites para a pintura. Em suas obras, a fragmentação do objeto leva-nos a duvidar sobre a realidade ou presença de um lugar, e aí surge a necessidade de reunir seus pedaços em uma unidade. Este discurso acerca da paisagem não tem mais ligação com um objeto do mundo natural, mas com a investigação a respeito das próprias circunstâncias que são mobilizadoras dessa transformação da paisagem.

É professor adjunto da Escola de Belas Artes da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Possui pós-doutorado em Artes Visuais com área de concentração em História e Crítica de Arte pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. É professor colaborador no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Artes Visuais (UFRJ). Crítico de arte, possui experiência na área de artes visuais, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: curadoria, arte contemporânea, produção artística brasileira das décadas de 1960 e 70 e escritos de artistas.

One of China’s Foremost Artists Urges Calm in a Hyper-Accelerated Society

Yu Hong drifts through the post-industrial landscape of 751 D-Park in Beijing’s 798 art district in this intimate film by director Thomas Rhazi. Here reflecting on the frenetic rush of her country, Yu inhabits a quiet, thoughtful corner of the Chinese art world. Like her husband, artist Liu Xiaodong, she is influenced by social realism, creating a theatre of human form and experience that is often rendered in mixed materials including gold leaf and oil paint. Ever curious about how social shifts and the abandonment of tradition alter female experience—Yu’s own grandmother had her feet bound—she often uses herself as muse. “Female artists have less opportunities to exhibit and sell their work then men,” she says of the difficulty of being a creative woman in China. “This constricts their growth and their ability to break free of the traditional role with the family.” Yu’s work has been exhibited in galleries as diverse as the SFMOMA in California and the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens. She remembers her city’s transformation from a one-gallery town in the 1980s, when she defied social pressure to quit and procreate to study at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. China has come a long way since then, but Yu is keen to focus on the human stress that such progress brings. “My work expresses the various problems a country faces when undergoing such rapid development,” she says. “It creates lots of pressure for individuals.”
